What is FortifyFL?
The official website describes FortifyFL as the following:
"FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials."
How can I access FortifyFL?
The two primary ways to access FortifyFL is via the official website and the official FortifyFL mobile device application that can be installed on Android and iOS devices. Follow the links below to either visit the website or the appropriate app store where the FortifyFL application can be installed from.
Official Website Overview
To access the office website, visit https://getfortifyfl.com
Note: EFSC Faculty and Staff can also locate this by accessing the Helpful Info folder on an EFSC staff computer and by opening the FortifyFL Submit a Tip link. This will immediately grant access to the Submit a Tip option from the website.
- Buttons to download the application from either the Apple Store or Google Play can be located on the official website. For further instructions about the app, scroll down on this article to the Mobile Application Instructions section.
- The website contains important information about FortifyFL that can be reviewed before use.
When ready to send in a report, follow the steps below to submit a tip. A video walk through can be found on the website as well.
Note: Steps may vary depending on website updates, but should follow a similar sequence.
1. On the official website, start by clicking on the Submit A Tip Online button.
2. After reviewing the Important Notice, click on the I understand, continue button.
3. On the Step 1: Enter your school name page, enter the name of the college or partial name (ex. Eastern Florida), then click Search.
4. Options for the different campuses should appear. Select the appropriate campus, then click Next.
5. On the Step 2: Incident Details page, provide the information regarding your tip for the report. When satisfied with the details entered, click Next.
6. On the Step 3: Photo or Video page, select Yes if you want to include a photo or video (this is optional), then click the Choose File button to browse your device for any photos or videos you want to include in the report. When finished, click Next to proceed.
7. On the Step 4: Contact Information (Optional) page, enter your name, email, and phone number (this is optional). The fields can be left blank to remain anonymous. Then, click Next.
8. Finally, on the Step 5: Confirmation page, click the Submit Tip Report button to finalize and send it.
9. You will then be directed to a Submitted page that confirms the tip was submitted. Click the Return button to head back to the main website.
Mobile Application Instructions
The FortifyFL application can be installed on mobile devices, allowing quick access and additional features. To begin, start by installing the app from one of the official app stores below, depending on the mobile operating system.
When ready to send in a report, follow the steps below to submit a tip. Additional features will be detailed after the instructions below.
Note: Steps may vary depending on mobile device but should follow a similar sequence.
1. After installing the application from the appropriate app store, locate and open the FortifyFL application.
Note: You may receive a prompt to allow notifications and for the app to use your location upon opening the app.
2. Select the option to Report a Tip.
3. You will be prompted with an Is this an emergency? screen. To continue submitting a non-emergency tip, select No.
Important Note: Selecting "Yes" will direct you to call 911 instead. The app will note that you must have calling capabilities to use the feature.
4. After reading the Important Notice, select I understand, continue to proceed.
5. On the screen Tip Report - Step 1 of 4, locate and select the name of the college in the dropdown menu for Eastern Florida State College. Double check the location, then select Next.
Notes: Options for the different campuses may also appear (ex. Cocoa).
You may also be prompted if you want to allow FortifyFL to access the device's location. This will then automatically select the appropriate college location.
6. On the screen Tip Report - Step 2 of 4, provide the information regarding your tip for the report. When satisfied with the details entered, select Next.
7. On the screen Tip Report - Step 3 of 4, you can add an optional photo or video by selecting the Tap to attach photo or video button and choosing the file from the device to include. After choosing to upload a file or not, select Next.
Note: You may also be prompted to allow FortifyFL to access the device so that the files can be retrieved.
8. On the screen Tip Report - Step 4 of 4, enter your name, email, and phone number (this is optional). The fields can be left blank to remain anonymous. Then, select Submit Tip.
9. You may then be prompted to confirm if you would like to submit the tip. Select the appropriate option to confirm and submit the tip.
10. Lastly, you will reach a Tip Submitted screen that will confirm the tip has been submitted. You can then select the Back to Main Menu option to return.
Additional Features on Main Menu
- About - This option provides further details about the app, how it is utilized, and the history in its creation.
- Call 911 - Enables use of calling 911 from the app as long as the device has calling capabilities.
- My Tips - View previous tips, the times they were submitted, and the option to edit reports.
- Settings - Options to Send App Feedback, Notification Settings, Push Notification History, Location Settings, and Language Preferences.
